About Jo

Jo Mabbutt

Jo trained in wood graining, marbling, gilding and specialist paint finishes and was awarded the City & Guilds Silver Medal for Excellence in 2000. She taught in further education for 8 years on Art & Design Pre-Degree Foundation, Interior Design, National Diploma and OCN short courses. Having up-skilled at Central St Martin's College of Art & Design to develop her own practice, Jo developed the specialist technique of hand gilding antique and vintage lace, crochet and tatting to create a range of contemporary framed pieces, jewellery, fashion and interior accessories, cards and Christmas Decorations initially selling through fairs across the country. She now sells her smaller jewellery online at NuMonday and other larger pieces through galleries and exhibitions.

Jo relishes collaborating with other designers who incorporate her gilded lace into unique fashion clothing and accessories, jewellery and millinery, and she continues to develop new contemporary pieces inspired by costume and historic portraits. View our galleries for examples.
